2008 MENSWEAR COLLECTION.

Im going backwards.

And the winner is...

NEIL BARRETT!!!!

Barret has been designing fashion apparel for over twenty years. Both his grandfather and great-grandfather were master tailors, and Neil's passion for tailoring began at an early age.

Following his graduation from the Central Saint Martin's (OH GOD!!!) School of Art and Design, Neil earned his Master's degree in men's fashion design at the Royal College of Art in London. His designs attracter Gucci, where Neil began his professional career.

Working in Florence for Gucci in the early 1900s, Neil gained extensive commercial and industrial experience. He was quickly promoted to senior menswear designer. After 5 successful years, Neil presented a project to Prada, proposing the launch f the company's first designer menswear collection. Under Neil's direction, Prada became renowned among fashion insides as the forerunner of minimalist4 menswear.

In 1999, Neil launched the Neil Barrett brand with his men's collection, made in the finest italian factories. The first, free standing Neil barrett brand store opened in the trendy central Tokyo Aoyama shopping district in 2001. Neil Barrett joined the Milan Fashion calendar featuring his men's collection in January 2002.

Choosing Neil took me some time, I had other options like Vena Cava, Celine and 1.3 Philip Lim, but as I looked closely to Barrett's collection, I fell in love with him.  What finally convinced me HE was the one was reading his biography, my grandfather was a master tailor too.

His minimalist style and neat & tight silhouettes reminds me a lot of what I'd like to design.. plus  he always include black in his collection, color, you all know, I love.

I'll be posting my favorite looks of his collections and specify of what year they are.

Have a nice saturday,

G
